I've never had any problems with any I've installed except when I had a bad fuse block. What was the purpose of the cap if you've got batteries? I just read your post about the shop, did they talk you into the cap? Be nice at first don't biotch about that right away... I got the cap before I upgraded my batt, and moved to dual alts. I don't guess it's really necessary now.
