05 Silverado electrical help

Recommended Posts

I checked with Mechman and they told me to run a wire from frame to engine where the alternator bracket is. Long story short I was able to route that cable through the load sensor on the ground wire and that seems to make everything work perfect. If I don't route that wire through the load sensor it seems to keep the truck in power saving mode because my voltage is only 12.8 when slamming the stereo. There is only 16.5-16.8 amps going through that wire and it doesn't fluctuate at all no matter how hard you push the stereo. With it going through the load sensor voltage is a solid 14.0-14.1

This also got rid of the Service 4WD message I was getting. Any ground loop noise I had is gone now. The only noise I have is a bit of alternator whine under the hood when it's charging but was told thats normal with the HO.

Pretty happy now and no more stress from this. Now to add some more mid speakers and start saving for a 4 -15 wall build lol.

I'll post some pics of my build when I get a chance.

Thanks for the input and help.

What size cable were you able to fit inside that load sensor? I have some 0 gauge from Sky High all ready to go, but I don't think its going to fit?
