austin.lucas21
Okay, so I am about to finally do the big three upgrade on my 1999 Silverado 5.3. It came from up north and was equipped with 2 batteries and a block heater from the factory. The second battery looks like it is only for accessories, but the main battery where the negative had the small cable for accessories and big cable for the alternator and starter return is where I have my system hooked up. So my questions are... Should I do a big 4 instead and ground the block to the frame and the battery neg??.... Do I need to do the big 3(4) to the extra battery as well?.... and lastly is the ground location on the alternator bracket an actual block ground or do I need to find another ground On the block? slowfkncar
Wire up both batteries, use grade 8 nuts & bolts for grounding at the frame, make sure your connections are solid, no slipping/loose ring terminals. Ground from alt bracket>frame>batteries.
