ptcary
Progress! Wired up the rear 3-ways and they sound great! They are only getting 60watts per side, but they are not really meant to be loud, just something back there for tailgating at car shows. I think I'll need a bigger LCD screen back there, that 7" just looks to small. The space in the middle below the crossovers is getting a fiberglass pod/platform for a PS3 and a secondary Eclipse headunit. Then whats left of the gaps around the wall will get carpeted trim panels and two more fans to help keep air moving back there during these Texas summers. ptcary
New door panels and speakers are here! This is what I have to work with, The center grey section is a seperate piece, so it can be removed leaving the outer piece intact and a fiberglass enclosure can be built into the center. Sitting in the PT the way it is, and I needed more midrange in the doors, and wanted to try a different midbass speaker too. Decided on Peerless 6.5" midbass, 5.25" mid, and a Max Fidelity 3.5" mid per door, and probably a Selenium 1" tweeter too, not sure if I need the tweeters there or not. Getting some ideas for fitting before the dremel comes out. More to come when I figure out exactly where I want them. ptcary
Just a few new pics and vids. SMD decals! The rear hatch is still in progress, ended up replacing the Audiopipe crossovers with 8-ohm 3-ways, so the rear speakers in the hatch sound much better now with lower crossover points. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RomByNB0JoI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMr8wryt1PM PTCary 2003 SMD PT Cruiser 2011 Honda CBR 250R 2010 Mazda 3i Sport MY BUILD LOG

ptcary
The decal looks great on ur Cruzr! Thanks for uploading the pic! I have got to say that is the NASTIEST Build I have seen in a PT! That looks tight!! Thanks! The decals are great, my first time working with the thinner vehicle wrap stuff, so it took a little work, but I love it! It is fun to have such a big build in a car where no one expects it, especially those who are not into car audio. If it were not for Steve, I would still be running 4 12"s in a sealed box behind the back seat of off 550 watts, so I have to support him with this logo! ptcary
Been tuning the new amps, and am happy again, I ended up removing my Soundstream EQ and a noise gate, had some issues with it and a slight 'noise floor' that was bugging me for weeks, all is well and sounding great now! The rear hatch setup got new 8 ohm 3-way crossovers and sounds even better now that it can get lower. Gotta get going on the new doors one of these days. Just moving these to my build log. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6hDtwjt2ug http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhBKIKAYkys PTCary 2003 SMD PT Cruiser 2011 Honda CBR 250R 2010 Mazda 3i Sport MY BUILD LOG
ptcary
Ok, if any of you guys are aero port experts, PLEASE post your thoughts here. I originally went with factory Hifonics port specs for my (2) walls, it just seemed to be the safe thing to do with such a large build for me, and me being kinda inexperienced with port tuning anyway. My tune <was> 38 hz but had no where near the ideal port area everyone talks about here on SMD. With stuffing the walls, it had to raise tuning, but I think it is higher than I originally thought; probably like 43 hz. I am currently running it with the slot ports covered and it is struggling to break 140 db with ~50 hz bassrace music. So I have ordered 8 4" PSP aeroports to use 4 per wall, and using Torres box calc, I can get a low 30's tune easily, but I will cut them to length for 33 hz. I will still be under the recommended 9 sq in per cube for aero ports which supposedly can use less sq inches than other ports. Some of you guys posted in my other thread that ~7+ sq inches per cube is fine with aero's. Any thoughts before I take the hole saw to my wall and shoot for a lower tune? I am pulling the stuffing out of the walls, too. PTCary 2003 SMD PT Cruiser 2011 Honda CBR 250R 2010 Mazda 3i Sport MY BUILD LOG
