Go ahead Cary, you know you want 'em!

Want vs need. The 18"s on the PT combined with the H&R springs are rough enough. I kinda like not having to slow down for bumps with the Mazda! I knew it would only get 16"s and the Momo's are perfect.

I'm more than sure if Steve decides to sell them, he will have no problems, seriously if he signs them SMD with a paint marker, there will be people all over them B) .

Small update....new head unit for the PT, since I moved the Eclipse double din to the Mazda. Pioneer MVH-P8200BT. My first experience with Pioneer and I like it. Fry's had these on sale for $149 for Christmas, I could not pass it up with onboard bluetooth and the ability to play videos direct from ipod. It also has an 8 band manual eq and auto eq (if you buy the Pioneer microphone) to test the interior with. 4v outputs. It did require a relay for the brake bypass; but other than that is very easy to work with.

Cleaned up the trunk a little. If anyone here see's this and can help me with a custom 10" circle clear plexiglass grille with the Mazda logo cut into it, please post or PM me. Also added the rear window spoiler and a pedal kit.

Man, I just spent the last 2+ hrs reading all 24 pages! Your car is really nice! I only wish I would have found this thread sooner!

I recently started building my PT, which I am calling the "Kickin' Cruiser". You should check it out, I'd LOVE to get some feedback from people who have already been there!

Kickin' Cruiser

I have several questions for you, but the first two are:

-Are you still running the factory alternator?

-Where did you get the voltage module?

Ok folks, it's time for a REBUILD! :drink40:

....you know we are restless types so this was inevitable.

Here are MY reasons and my reasons only.

The current wall in the PT is not my first wall, but the most complete one I have done. It surpassed my expectations once I got a few things sorted out. Then I realized my tune was too high 43 hz, so I re-ported down to 30, which is a little to low for me.

So I am going to change things up and try something that I wanted to try initially with Steve's design. The Hoopty wall with 4 15"s - 2 per side. Kinda a small half-hoopty wall. (can we still call it the hoopty - that thing is so nice now!).

Anyway - There is a poll at the beginning of this post, so please vote and PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS AFTER VOTING.

Here are my options.

AudioQue HD3 15"s they will need 2 AQ2200Ds so I would want another one and the required electrical. But I could run 2 of them and half the wall in the meantime.

AudioQue SD15's off of my current AQ2200, but I think that 4 of them can not be wired to 1 ohm.

Kicker CVR 15"s, the silver ones single 4 ohms. I have always loved Kicker. And can get 4 of these for under $500.

The wall will be rebuilt completely and using all the airspace that I did not use last time. It will be Line-X sprayed this time and it will still have the 3 plexi mirrors. It will also be double faced. I want to use the stacking 2x4" method and then Birch or MDF. I want the inside to be smoother this time around.

So far my design research is following DJ's recommendations from AQ. ~4 cubes per sub, 36-38hz tune. 14-16 sq in port area.

Right now just the AQ2200D would give 550w per sub, and the possibility to run a second 2200D if I could run the HD 15's.

Other plans for the slow rebuild will include a new center console, Ipad; 2 AudioQue 4x90 amps for the mids and highs, and the new door panels that have not started. XS batteries and that new XS charger. Knuconceptz wiring. Second skin for the roof.

Help me with advice on 4x 15"s. I am leaning towards the AQ HDC 15"s, I think they are $269 each. Is there anything out there I need to consider in the same power handling/price? I still need to look at Fi Q15"s too.

Hell yeah man, glad to hear you are gonna tear back into the Cruiser! Thanks for the answer too, got my module ordered up yesterday! Man I have wanted SO bad to do a wall in mine, I still have plans to do it later on, but rt now I gotta have my backseat. FTL!!! Anyways, we all know I LOVE me some Kicker, but honestly, I don't know anyone who has had any luck w/ the CVR's. I've seen some nice install pics w/ people using them, but the one I have actually heard in person didn't impress. But that means absolutely nothing, as I have only heard that one set. Personally, I'd go w/ the CVX 15's, or L715's, if your lookin to spend $269 on each sub, but then again that is just me. But whatever you decide, I can't wait to see it done, as our cars AND our ideas are SO SIMILAR!

My plan for this year is to put 2 15" L7's AND 2 12" L5's, all in a single enclosure, all crammed in the back! (Box would be a single, shared chamber on the bottom w/ a shared port for the 15's, and separate, sealed chambers up top for the 12's) But like I said, I really wanted to do a 4 15 wall, so know matter what equipment u go with, I'll be watching like a hawk!

Thanks for the advice on the CVRs. Since the AQ SD subs only come in dual 4 ohms coils, and I need a 1 ohm load, that would force me to the HD series. they are $269 each sub, then I saw the Fi Q15"s are similar price and maybe a slightly smaller enclosure than the AQ subs.

I think I am leaning towards the Fi subs now. I have plenty of time to decide.

It will take some work and a sawzall to get the current wall out. This time I am getting rid of all the rear interior plastics and the rear half of the headliner, there is a lot more airspace to be had there than my current wall uses.

Please, if anyone comes across this and is experienced with the Fi Q15"s or knows someone who is, point me to them. I am heading to the search to find all I can about enclosure sizes that will work.
