Cerwin Vega Pro Shallow

Recommended Posts

Anyone heard these ?

This is one if the options I am thinking about for under the seat of a crew cab gmc canyon.

Their specs on sealed box is .4 cu ft and sun takes up  .03, so need. 43 per.

Checking some measurements, I can get a internal of 1.81, 4 is 1.72, added bracing, should be good.

Vegas are 300 watts rms apiece

I have a skar skv2-1500.1

4 ohm - 550 x 1

2 ohm - 930 x 1

1 ohm - 1,500 x 1

The vegas come in a dvc 2 ohm and 4 ohm.

Their spec sheet says they are 1.7 ohm and 3 ohm

If I decided on the vegas I would get 4 and use either 3 or 4 of the 10's

With doing series / parallel wiring

If figuring the 1.7 and 3 ohm

Subs - Sub Ohms - Wiring ohm - Watts/amp watts

3.         3.                  2.                    900 / 930

4.         3.                  1.5.                1200 / 1215

3.         1.7.               1.13.              900 / 1428

4.         1.7.               0.85.              1200 /

With doing series / parallel wiring combinations

If figuring the 2 and 4 ohm

Subs - Sub Ohms - Wiring ohm - Watts/amp watts

3.         4.                   2.67.              900 / 811

4.         4.                   2.                    1200 / 930

3.         2.                   1.34.              900 / 1286

4.         2.                   1.                    1200 / 1500

Since the higher the frequency the ohms can go up, should configure on the 1.7 / 3 ohm spec sheet rating or the 2 / 4 ohm rating they call the sub.

If I go with the 3 spec ohm subs then perfect for my amp using 3 or 4 and order th

If i go with what they call a 2  ohm then it is better paired than the 4 ohm

The 4 ohm does have a higher xmax than the 2 ohm

I have really liked the skar skv2 series amp and was planning on keeping it, I have a pair of skar zvx and a new pair of vvx subs but they are to deep for what i need, i am going to leave the back seat in, and from looking through http://www.loudspeakerdatabase.com I picked out the vegas as making a down fire box

Another idea was using 4 or 6, 6.5" in a front fire box.

6 in a sealed or 4  with 2 10" passive radiators

I want atleast what I had before in my crossfire i had a pair of skar zvx 's in the hatch in sealed boxes.

I have had alot of constant hours driving down interstates and they are as stiff as they where new, ported boxes would be better on the zvx line, but I wanted space so I had room for luggage every week.

And with staying in hotel every week I want to keep under seat and out of sight.

I could just buy a box and a pair of 10's or tripple 8's but as I said, I want atleast what I had or more and with a 8 or 10 inwouldbhave to go with shallow, if 6.5 then I can have deeper since front fire.

I remember when audiobahn advertised a 3 ohm and everyone complained because they where odd and they couldn'tfigure out how to use a calculator to figure out the draw rating, and that was what there rating was.

But the vegas say 4 ohm but specs say 3 ohm

Trying to pair the best with my amp with doing a series / parallel or a parallel/  series combination.

If I knew that 3 vegas 10" pro shallows in sealed would do atleast what the 2 skar zvx 's I would just plan on 3, I figured it would take the 4 in sealed box.

Especially since they only need .43 cu ft per sub
