SkinnyFeets Posted May 28, 2020 Report Posted May 28, 2020 I'm in the process of upgrading my setup to a pair of Sundown X-15 V1s, and I'm planning to power them with a Taramps MD-5000 2 ohm. My planned electrical upgrades are a CES 270 alt, and a Northstar agm 80. The truck will be running when it's playing. Will it be enough, or should I go for the agm 220 instead?
Dafaseles Posted May 28, 2020 Report Posted May 28, 2020 To push that amp, I think you need more. Like 2 of those 220's and a 300 amp alternator. And that's without a highs amp. That amp needs a lot of juice. Here's some videos that helped me understand electrical needs Probably want to look into getting a dashboard voltage meter as well. Just to stay safe. Hope that helps you out 2011 Chevy Silverado under construction My build log here. Check it out!
SkinnyFeets Posted May 29, 2020 Author Report Posted May 29, 2020 The vids helped quite a bit, thanks for that. That amp supposedly only draws 230 amps on music, so I was hoping that even with another 100 amps of draw for mids and highs I could make it work with a single 220. Oh well, it isn't like overkill will hurt anything.
