devray Posted September 5, 2020 Report Posted September 5, 2020 Hello everyone!First of all, sorry for this very novice question. I was looking for something to make noise in the trunk so i bought the first thing that i've come across but to be honest, i have no idea what i'm doing and i'm simply amazed that after install, the car or setup didn't blow up lolSo i bought a 4 ohm sub with 250w rms and an amp that has these specs:150 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (250 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)and now i wonder, is the sub's output at the moment 150w or 250w? honestly it isn't very loud should i go and replace the amp with one with this specs to get full power from the sub:500W RMS x 1 (2Ω, 14.4V, ≤1% THD+N)300W RMS x 1 (4Ω, 14.4V, ≤1% THD+N) ?Thank you!
1point21gigawatts Posted September 5, 2020 Report Posted September 5, 2020 Buy that other amp. That subwoofer is seeing around 100 rms on that amp you have because of impedance rise. “How can we help you?” “And don’t forget to tell them that the customer isn’t always right.”
