Thedogsbollocks
Hey Fuys need advice. Just finishing a Jeep TJ build - Trying to achieve the best sound poss in this circumstance and so far so good. Question - I believe for an open top sub ( JL 10w6 V3 D4 ) that a down facing sub would be the best solution. ( sub free standing in cargo space where rear seats removed). however I’ve read on the forum that there is a phenomenon called ‘ Driver Sag ‘ when the speaker is orientated in a down facing way. Is this correct?...There must be thousands of downfacimg subs out there yet I’ve never heard of this. thanks...
Dafaseles
I haven't heard of it, but I will tell you that I had 4 12" w6's down firing for about 5 or 6 years and never had an issue. I've taken them out recently and they still seem strong. 2011 Chevy Silverado under construction My build log here. Check it out!
Shush Deeni
If that were true, then mounting your subs upward would have the same effect. Spider sag usually happens to older subs, when the weight of the soft parts cause the spider to loose it's stiffness.
