12" Sq Focused sub that likes a 1.2cu Box and up to 1000w@ 1ohm

Life the Title says, Looking for an SQ focused 12" sub or Subs that like 1.2cu ea (SEALED). Right now I'm at about 800wrms at 1ohm but i wouldn't be opposed to going down in wattage or changing up the amp.

 

Audio Frog Subs look sweet but dang are they pricey. Do any quality drivers exist sub $300? 

 

Thanks for the help ahead of time. I've tried to be as self sufficient as possible but its hard to search this question and find an appropriate answer.

Sub $300... none that I can think of that have the quality SQ reputation. 

But if you're looking for true, great sound quality, ditch the prefab box if you can. I get it though, in some cases, to maximize the space you're given in a certain vehicle, and someone isn't willing to do a million things just to make it work, prefab boxes are a solution. But if you can, custom is the way to go. 100%.Design, or have a box designed, specifically for the sub your using and build it, or have it built. It'll end up being better quality and use better quality materials than mass produced prefab boxes. The enclosure and electrical are the 2 most important things when it comes to having your system proper!

The box is the only thing im set on. I dont want to have a huge box in the trunk. At most one in each corner.  It's easy starting with the woofer. I'm trying to do it backwards lol.

Even if you build a box that has the same internal volume as the box you're planning on using, it'll sound better. That might not make sense, but trust me it does. It might turn out to be a little bigger on the outer dimensions of the box because you'll use higher quality materials like 3/4 inch MDF or 1 inch birch instead of 1/2 inch, low quality MDF that prefab enclosures are usually made of. Also, you'll take (or your builder) the extra time and care to make sure it's perfectly sealed and resined in the corners to make sure it's 100% airtight. 

But like I said before, sometimes, in certain situations, prefab boxes might be your only option. I get it

And you're actually not doing it backwards. You're doing it right. First you decide how much space you're willing to lose, then you pick the right sub to perform in that space.

you must not have looked at the box. It's fiberglass. I have no idea of the quality yet and Im still waiting to get it from sonic electronics. I may reinforce it with more layers of fiberglass if it's flimsy. But i was asking more about what material to use for fill, maybe some ways of dampening up the fiberglass with something? I know there's methods but i cant for the life of me remember.  

 

Like I said, Set on the box. It should fit perfectly in the rear corner of my trunk. (taking up very little space). I fold down the rear seats constantly to store longer items in my hatchback so haveing a square box to move around is a no.

 

Perhaps I'll start a project log so that it's easier for people to help me hahahaha.
