Ported enclosure for a pair of DD Audio 210D subs

Recommended Posts

This was one of the first projects I built after getting the CNC router up and running.  I'm pretty tight with the local shop owner and he does a lot of DD Audio stuff (we're in North Texas and DD is not to far away in Oklahoma).

We played around with the idea of "prefab" style boxes that were actually built around the published T/S parameters of the subs.  All the benefits of a custom built (to the drivers) box with a cost more in line with prefabs.  With that in mind I modeled a pair of the 210Ds in WinISD, designed the box and ran it off on the CNC.  Here is how it came out:

Hook It Up is the name of the local shop.  I really enjoyed the design and build process, but the box in the pics was the only one that the shop actually sold.  Getting to a price point that the owner thought would attract the lower-end market, plus the fact that probably 85-90% of the jobs that come through are pickup trucks, generic trunk boxes weren't going to be a money maker.

I love the precision, speed and options that the CNC open up for me.
