Hostility Posted February 12, 2022 Report Share Posted February 12, 2022 Currently using a single sa12v2 on a skar rp1500. just ordered a salt 3 for it but now wondering if that was a bad idea and I should have stuck with the salt 2. I plugged the numbers in winisd and my port velocity is high unless I have a big port. Joe X Posted February 12, 2022 Report Share Posted February 12, 2022 Assuming you are running the SA12v2 at 2 ohm the SALT3 amp would deliver 1500W to the sub, if such is the case: With your port area of 30.25 square inches you would get about 25 m/s of vent airspeed in a 2@32hz box which is acceptable. I think you are ok unless you were running the sub at 1 ohm, in that case you just limit the gain of the amp, worst thing that can happen is that the amp runs cooler. So again not a problem there either. Yes I’m planning to wire to 1ohm. But when I plug in the numbers to say input of 3000 watts the port velocity goes above 40ms. I may try and switch my order out to the salt 2. I could make my port bigger but not sure what affect it would have on Sound. I can use the same box and change the port as it’s external to a 6x6 port.
