trm122
I have a couple of these 5.25" subs that were originally going into the front door OEM enclosures of a 996 Porsche. I've decided to keep the OEM woofers in the doors and utilize these TB subs in an enclosure that will fit in the deck behind the rear seats. Space is limited there... 38" wide 8.75" tall 7.5" deep If its relevant the system is powered by a Kenwood XR901-5 amp. A channel for the dash speakers, B channel for door woofers and sub channel for this box.
Joe X
So here is a suggestion, power: to sub(s) rated, amp subsonic filter to 30Hz, minimum port clearance 1 3/8", figure is just an assembly guide:
trm122
Thank You. Would much change if the drivers were mounted in the front as opposed to the top?
Joe X
I recommend firing the subs up towards the slanted glass but if you want to test some other direction and don't like it I guess you can change it back later. The other thing I wanted to tell you is that you can only use like 70W out of the 400W your amp can provide, you have enough box size for a SA-8 sub or similar 8" sub which can take advantage of the extra power you have available, I am telling you this because those little woofers you have may sound nice but they are not going to get loud at all. trm122
Well after thinking this through I'm taking your advice and not using these small woofers, but instead going with a single sealed SD4.
Joe X
Yes, one SD4 8" dual 4 ohm in a 0.5 cubic feet net on 400W will be just fine in your space and amp.
