Bass knob with multimeter won’t power on?

I’ve recently purchased a universal bass knob similar to CT sounds and I’ve wired everything correctly, I have ground, power and remote coming from wavtech link dq and the multimeter won’t turn on but the bass knob works is this due to the wires not being directly wire to an amp or battery? Any help is appreciated

Simply get a meter and check if you have constant 12vdc on red, and key'd on 12vdc on yellow, and use continuity on the ground.  The blue or remote out, is whatever. I dont know if your using it or not, but it, shouldnt make the unit work or not. 

Easy peasy. Id really look at your ground also. Check your constant, and keyed voltages, and report back

Just saw this now. I think it was just faulty, I resautered the ground connection in the motherboard and it worked fine then one day the knob completely stopped working lol. Had to upgrade anyways 🤷🏽‍♂️. Subwoofer knob that spins is on my list. I appreciate the info. 🤙🏾
