Car Wont Crank

Recommended Posts

just cranked up the car, everything works fine, until i turn it up. the amps both shut off. then i rev up the engine a little, and they cut back on. i think that its the alt. maybe its not charging things as fast as they need to be charged. or my battery isnt supposed to have that much power going off of it

i took it to a alt/electric specialist, and he said the battery is good, and the alt is charging it. he unplugged the alt, and the noise stopped. but the noise, and the dead battery might be from a bad diode. what would this mean? i need a new alt? im gonna let him look at it tomorrow in the morning. on the way back my amps quit working

This is turning into a slow motion trainwreck.

I hope you did not pay for that terribly technical diagnosis & complicated test. "Might be from a dead diode"??? Wow, precision guesswork.

You probably are not charging well, and your bateries may be crap too. You cant "guess" at this stuff, you need to accurately measure things. An inexpensive testmeter or DVM will tell you what you need to know about your charging system.

You need to measure the resting voltage of your batteries first thing in the morning, before starting your car. Then, measure the voltage again with the engine running & audio off.

Without voltage measurements, you are chasing your tail.

im almost to the point where i want to take everything out, and let someone put it all in. only problem is, last time i let someone do that, they f'd it all up. broke my dvd player, and he ran 4 guage from the main battery to split into my 4 ch. amp and my zx1500.1 , which is stupid, unless you want to only see about half of what it should be doing

yeah thanks, i really appreciate it.

i just bought a dmm and the front battery checked out. it was around 13V

and the amps were receiving 7.6V so they werent getting enough power.

could this be from a bad connection somewhere?

i think the problem is just a bad wire. the alt is just trying to give the amps in the back the 12 volts they need, but the cable is only allowing around 8V

what do yall think?

im kinda pissed off, but in a good mood now.

the bastards who did my wiring last, half assed the ground to the amps. there was a big burnt spot under my dampening mat. i went to wal mart and got a metal screw to fit, and everything is grounded perfectly.

F-in 14V to each amp now.

thank yall for all your patience with this. i really appreciated your help
