So I'm thinking about replacing/upgrading my factory keyless entry and alarm with a Viper 5002 after I get all the stereo work done. I want a 2-way but not the remote start.

Question is, what happens to the factory keyless, does it piggyback off the new alarm, and stay in place? or get removed? I know I need a bypass kit for the Chrysler computer chip key.

Also, has enyone worked with the new Viper or Directed express kits?

Car is a 2003 PT Cruiser, if that helps.

Thanks guys, just in planning phase right now.

i have the 5002 installed too and like it. since my factory keyless is built into my key, it stays intact. still works and everything.

Do you have one of the integration kits installed along with the alarm?

what do you mean integration? im not THAT up to date on alarms. mine is just the alarm hardwired into the car.....

There are kits out now that go between the aftermarket alarm and the car, that supposedly make it easier for the aftermarket alarm to control the factory alarm and transponder key.

I am trying to see if I can install an alarm myself or be better off letting a shop do it. I have a transponder key/factory alarm/keyless entry, but if one of these kits makes it easier, I might be able to install it all myself.
