FI_Aaron
Currently ihave 1 btl 18 in my explorer...its decently loud for one sub, but ive been craving more... i wanted another 18 until i started watching assman, galacticmonkey, and steve start building... now i want many woofers... ive been thinking maybe 6 type r 15s on 3 RF t1500s... the reason for my choice with alpine is because my btl needed a recone, and i emailed nick and told him...4 months later he says he has it, ad my local shop will switch out my alpines anytime. Just little more convenient. I plan on keeping the btl tho for my new car. Want to put it in a trunk and try for a high trunk score... but anyway... wat are you guys opinion should i keep mu btl and get a second, or try 6 type r 15s? i know cone area FTW but i want a groundpounder that is heard thanks Quote Lets Go Ski
BigPimpin91
Type R's get loud but I heard their SQ isn't something to be desired. 6 15's not only has more cone area but also more motor force, something people forget when using simple rules of thumb. If you have room do whatever you feel you can get the most out of. 6 15's = Twice as much cone area as the 2 18's. From personal experience. More subs less power is greater than Less subs more power. etaks_crew
6 15's get my vote. But you might want to do a different brand. My buddy has type R's and they get pretty loud but I think they sound a lil crappy. Edited June 30, 2008 by etaks_crew

wrathchild281
I say two 18's. I went from 6 12in l7's walled to 2 18in btls and saw a big difference. Hell even one of the 18's could hang with the 6 12's. Then again the 18s were ported and 12s were sealed. None the less the 18s would have been louder even if the 12's were ported. bkolfo4
I went from (2) 18's MT to (4) 15 MT's. Metered within .2 dB of each other, but the 15's to the ear are MUCH louder. In the same box and the same power, the 18's peaked at 43 Hz, the 15's peak at 36 Hz making a big difference playing music.
