So, i know the big is the Alt +/- and battery +/-

But i want to do the big 3 on my truck tomorrow. I have a 97 Dodge Ram V8, with a after market alt.

I was wondering all the things i need to hook the 0/1 wire to.

From Alternator output to battery positive (fuse this wire a bit larger than your alternator)

From Alternator Ground (case of alternator or as close as you can get) to Chassis Ground (frame or unibody)

From Chassis Ground (frame or unibody) to Battery Ground

12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro

O_O ok 2 noob moments in a row......i fail.

But, ok i have a question that isn't covered by that....or i didn't see it. I have a Yellow Top, so side and top post. My truck uses Top, Can i just run the new power and ground to the side post? But i have my run of 0/1 wire already on the side for amps, would that hurt anything?

Lol, no.

Lights run on a un-regulated power source (read: battery) so they'll dim from ANY kind of voltage drop.

Even dropping from 14.4v to 13.x volts.

You can do that. It is just 2 different ways to hook up to the same battery. On the inside, the top and side terminals go to the same place.

So, it won't matter that my power wire is on the same mounting post? Sweet.

And BTW love the Astro....I've had 2 and want another. They kick ass. easy to get the :hairtrick: I did with 4 Comp 15's

Yeah. Kinda' have a sick fondness for the old Astro. My granny gave it to me too. Still looks like a granny ride. No one would suspect the boomage.

I usually buy batteries with both side and top posts just for the extra places to stick wires. The Astro is the opposite of your truck- the factory positions use the side terminals. That left me the top terminals to run the Alt wire in and the amp wires out. The other was the battery to chassis to alternator ground hook up.

That's what i would do with my Astros. Leave them looking stock on the outside then to surprise people with the rukus. Same thing i would do with the battery to.

I haven't had it for months and when i go to competitions people still ask me about it. =]

From Alternator output to battery positive (fuse this wire a bit larger than your alternator)

From Alternator Ground (case of alternator or as close as you can get) to Chassis Ground (frame or unibody)

From Chassis Ground (frame or unibody) to Battery Ground

typically youll see engine to body (ground) instead of that one. but either one will work since the alt bracket is grounded to the block.
