FiQ150db Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 Just wanted an opinion on how these two subs compare. I currently have 2 mx 12's in 6cubes and they totally lack punch and upper end bass. On the lows they are devestating and shift some air for fun. Ive ordered 2 18" BL's fully loaded and I can gather that they will play the upper notes very well but how would they compare to the Mx's on the lows ? Played screwed and chopped music on my setup for the first time and absolutely loved it
AI James Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 you should have made a better box for the MX imo, imo the MX is a superior subwoofer to the BL in both ways. the BL will lack some of the lows the mx had but with 18s you wont even notice the loss.

The box is perfect for the subs. 6 cubes tuned to 33hz with a large enough port. Its just a fact that the New Re range of subs just seem to shift air but have no impact. Tried them in a smaller box and they sounded poo. Towards 50hz+ the Mx's just seem lost. And im running class A/B to them.

So in your opinion the Mx is a better sub than the BL ? How are the lows on a BL ? alot of people say they are non existant ?

Hmm, I went after the BL's simply because it says its a low powered alternative to the BTL (Supposed great daily woofer) Originally I did order the Q's but changed my mind when I got told the BL's have a better blend of upper and lower end response compared to the Q's. Too late to change my order now subs were manufactured yesterday.
