there isnt a definition but everyone that competes go by. somewere like 1000 sq/in cone area, tuned low, or with sealed it goes by box vol, and be able to play muzik over 150db, play low freq at higher than normal dbs, have a low resident freq 35Hz or lower.

this is what ive hurd guys at MECA, USACi tell me when i asked several ppl. its not written rules but what is know to be a GP with the big dawgs.

I think 1 BTL is enough to be considered a ground pounder or as I would like to consider myself "Groundpounding on a Budget" But seriously, I know my single BTL can't run with the "Big Dawgs" but I plan on building an enclosure for both sometime in the future. If its tuned low and you can play music on it for an extended period of time its a groundpounder imo, but best ones run multiple woofers and hit huge numbers!

One BTL would sure would pound with a good box and proper power, you can always get another (or 7 more LOL) later on.

it shakes the concrete, well it doesnt shake it, but you can deffinitly feel the ground move
