jlgn_2000 Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 What kind of car do you have? if its 750 watts your car's stock electrical should be ok, I would do the big three and have 4 gauge for the power going to your amp. A high output alt is better than a battery IMO. There is a group buy goin on right now actually. 94 3000gt 18" Kicker Solo X KX2500.1 2 KX350.4 8 JBL Coax Speakers 250A Mechman Alt

Decaf Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 alt and yellow..... i think u got a 65-70a alt car uses ~60% of alts power 70*.6=42a 70-42=28a 28*13.8v(average voltage to amp...on the high side)= 386.4 watts continuous the alt could/should be able to sustain getting a new alt will up it another ~100a...... thus you could run a 1000w continuous sub amp and ~400-500w mid/high amp with a 160a alt instead of the 60-70 u have now.... the batteries you are using make a big difference too... but the above is just a means to find what u should be able to power.... its not by any means a precise equation... but it proves the big difference an alt makes alt 1st, bat 2nd

raytard Posted August 15, 2008 Report Posted August 15, 2008 youre not getting one of the 350amp monsters into your car like you would with a yukon, youd be lucky to find 160amps in a factory bolt in. Generally around 3-600 depending on brand/shipping/belts/install. check iraggi, powermaster, ohio generator, and stinger and see which works best for your app and budget, the last three i mentioned you prob have to go to an authorized dealer to for models and prices. Build: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/ind...hl=avalon+build monster/rockford/kicker/stinger cables, pioneer source, jbl highs/amps, kinetik/shuriken batts, iraggi alt, dei security, dc subs(atleast for now) Team DC
