well let's say i copped a good deal on a MA Audio HK602SX (2 channel ...class a/B). now i use to have one hifonics 1500d playing at 1 ohm hooked to both of my DC lvl 4 15d1 (lvl 5 coils). now although the ma audio amp is rated 3600rms @ 1ohm it sounds pretty descent but not at good as the 1500d did. everything is hooked up with 1/0 and gains and such as set correctly (could use a lil more fooling around with). i expected a bigger sound from this 3600rms amp. it may be due to me only having a stock aalternator and not enough juice is getting to the amp despite the two runs of 1/0 (one for pos and neg) .....8 ga for speaker wire. so my question is why isn't the ma audio outdoing the hifonics amps when it has double the power at 1 ohm. my HC800 (2nd battery in the rear) sits around 14.2-14.4 daily but the voltage display on the amp is always .3 less than whatever is read on the hc800 and yes i've checked the battery and amp with a multimeter and my runs of 1/0 from the HC800 are only like 15 inches each from the HC800 to amp. so could someone give me insight and why i don't hear such a big difference with double the power doing to my subs now. thank you.

the subs are wired in series for 2 ohm each. i bridged them to the amp so it would play at 1 ohm. no i didn't set the amp with a DMM. i played it by ear. cut the gains up slightly and the bass boost about 1/2 way up. i lpf x-over is set around 40hz and subsonic fz is set around 25. i'm going to play with it a lil bit more and see what i can come up with along with purchasing the bass remote for the amp. it's a class a/b and i'm sure that has something to do with it sounding like it does. if all fails i'll get rid of it and get a class d.

come on man

lpf of 40hz?.... try 80-100hz.... ur missing out on where alot of bass is

get rid of the bass boost

get a dmm and set ac volts to 60v with 50hz test tone with 0 bass boost at the volume ur mids/highs start to distort

class a/b pulls more current and is less effiecient than class d... so yes that can be an issue but u need to learn how to set gains/settings first

i feel what you are saying. until recently i've always kept my gains very low and bass boost just about all the way. i played around with my 1500d and i up'd the gains to about 1/4 of the way up with the bass boost all the way down, sounded a whole lot better. i'll probably try the 602SX the same way and see how that does. i know a class d amp would be more effient though. i'll play with it tonight and see what it does. all else fails i'm looking ino the AQ2200d, Hifonics 2608d or Crunch pro 3000d. as for the xover i have always set my LPF around 40-45 hz. i built my sub enclosures and tuned them to 33 hz and they get very low ........ i'm from the sound potna and gots to have it low.

ok but thats seriously not smart to set it there... ur box might even peak above ur lpf...

the lowest ive set a sub crossover is 63@12db and there was great midbass from 8's in the doors

otherwise always at 80hz...100hz if you listen to more rock and the sub likes it

i would seriously reconsider the lpf ar 40-45hz....

ive made ported boxes for 18s tuned to 28hz and still set lpf at 80hz... pretty standard/universal setting no matter how low u tune

check my sig... all i play is notes below 45hz.. and peak at nearly ur tune frequency... but i would never cut it off at that... then theres no kick and it prolly sounds really boomy since ur missing so much mid sub bass

i'll try what you just suggested and see what it gets me. all i know is it lacks that low bass that it had before i switched out amps. i'll fix it one way or the other. thankx for the advice

gl...

yeah the lower the note compared to the tune frequency the lower the resistance so the more power and current youll create and draw the closer you get to fb....

up that electrical!

yeh i'm working on the electrical. i'll get rid of the optima go with either a powermaster or kinetik along with the MLA module ..... big 3 already done years ago. i might just downgrade in power and get a good 2000rms-2600rms amp. i really don't care to give the dc lvl 4s 1800rms each.
