dual 2 ohm subs will give you a 1 ohm load, so you will get the most power out of that amp.

I ALSO have another question. i have a PT 800w amp pushing my highs. and for some reason my speakers were starting to smell so i took em to best buy and got a new pair. and now the new ones are starting to smell and i wont even have it turned up 75 %. any ideas on what problems could be?

uhh, too much power over rms?? thats usually what that means, clipped dirty power, or too much power....re check the gains
