DCbeast78
Ok I built a box for 2 12's subs up and aero ports to the drivers side....My question is where do I put the ports on the box ? This is my first box with aero's. Box is 13 by 13 and 25 long. I read that rule of thumb is put ports on center of the box horizonally ? is this right? So subs up and ports firing to the drivers side? I have 2 4 inch psp flared ports if that helps. banginAltima
Aero ports work better with some spacing around them, meaning don't stick it in the corner of your box. I would atleast have the inside flare 3 inches away from the walls of the box if possible. Also if you are side porting and if you have the room stack them as far back in the box/car. banginAltima
I just reread the post, damn thats a small box. Your gonna have to fit them the best you can. The outside flare is 7.25 inches..... 7.25 plus 7.25 equals 14.5 inches. your gonna have to put them in the box diagonally or use them externally still diagonally though... banginAltima
I did some figuring, with a 13 by 13 by 25 box that is only about 1.8 cubic feet before sub and port displacement. Your tuning is going to be in the 50's Hz range with full length internel ports and in the mid 40's with externel ports. You would be better off to only us one 4 inch port or you need to build a bigger box. Quote If you build it, db's will come... DCbeast78
can I mount them on the front side of the box and still have good sound ? subs up and ports on front 4 inches apart that leaves me 3 inches in between. DCbeast78
they are going to be external ports if that helps.... banginAltima
Yeah, external ports will be better but your box is still on the small side. Your tuning will still be on the high side. I do like the idea of side porting if you have the room. What kind of vehicle is this? Quote If you build it, db's will come...
