  1. Weren't there only something like 100 of these being produced? It's pretty cool to see that you got a pair of them. I can only imagine what you are going to do with them. I wouldn't even know where to start with a 24" woofer as far as enclosure size and port area. It is a really different animal with a sub that large. Good luck with the build and I know that I am excited to see the finished product.
  2. Should be a pretty sick build man. I will be checking it out for updates. Make sure you don't lose steam and give up on the progress reports here cause this one looks like it is going to be something that I am interested in.
  3. Trump as well. I absolutely hate Clinton and the brainwashed arrogance that her followers carry. They scream that they want change but then want to vote for the same old politician that is only out to push their own agenda and continue to run our country into the ground. With Trump what you see is what you get and he is invested in making our country a better place by actually investing in Americans.
  4. Nice car and build so far man. I wanted to get a Camaro but the damn trunk is just sooooo small for anything large to go in there. However, you are making it work for you. I like what you have done with it so far, keep up the good work.
  5. dBDRAG 2016 North American Finals

    ^^^Team Bassick reunion tour????
  6. Brian built the fuck out of that box! Damn does that bitch look sexy. He is one of the few people that I would let build an enclosure for me that I would actually be proud running in my personal vehicle. Nice work! Also that sub is a beast Meade. I am impressed that you were able to get that much of a woofer at the price point you are offering it at. Congrats on the line and hopefully you sell them all out!
  7. Looks good my friend. It is coming along nicely and will surely be loud. If I had to put my guess out there as to what it will do number wise before tuning I am going to say a 158.2 on the dash sealed. Hopefully with some work you will stomp out a 160 sealed on the dash. I'm sure it will do that in the kick right off the bat. I'm in for more progress pics. Also since you frequent the shows in my area and compete in NSPL I am expecting a demo of this vehicle when I see you at a show with it.
  8. Anybody connected with USACi?

I'm not interested in "people" going there. Nobody from this region seriously competes in USAC anyway so none of the locals will be at finals. I'm more interested in weather or not USAC will send a judge to run the event. It'll be close to 4 hour drive for me each way so I'd hate to waste my time but if there was confirmed going to be a judge there hosting it I'd show up just to post up a number in their org. Well, the show is listed to take place on the October 9th date according to Termpro, which is an official partner with USACi, so I would be pretty confident that the show is going to take place. Also I was referring to "people" as the "people" from USACi not showing up due to this. I was not even speaking about competitors and if I were I would have referred to them as competitors. My reference of people was to that of the one's affiliated with the USACi organization and I feel like the majority, if not all, will be in Texas for the finals event. Good luck if it goes down though. BTW, here is the link to the page on Termpro, a simple google search would have given this info though http://termpro.com/asp/officialevent.asp?EventID=16015&Method=1 OK, so basically you're trying to be a smart arse and don't know any more than I do. Yes I saw it at Termpro site but a local shop and the guy who runs all the NADBL shows in this region said that nobody from USAC is coming. So if "people" (from USAC) are all going to be at finals why don't they take it off their site? If local social media has my answers the rumor among the locals is that they're not sending a judge. The ONLY reason I'm asking is that it is posted at Termpro site, hence the discrepancy and I repeat I was hoping someone who actually knows somebody at USAC can get this cleared up. SOMEBODY on this board knows someone who would know for sure I'm very confident. You got me all wrong friend, no one is trying to be a smart ass. If its coming across that way maybe reread it and reevaluate the context. I was trying to be helpful, and if it's on Termpro then the show is most likely a for sure lock to happen otherwise the info would not be on there. It is the organization that adds and updates the information on Termpro for their particular area not a 3rd party or the Termpro site administrator. So if it's up there it's because USACi put it there and intends on holding the show. The whole "a simple google search" comment was an unnecessary jab at me. Implying I hadn't already looked at the USACi website is somewhat insulting. Well I'm not a member and nobody is even remotely near me, but I have sent an email to their general gmail box so I'll report back if and when I get a reply. Nah man it honestly wasn't a jab, it's the internet and if you assume that anyone has any common sense or does the most logical thing first you are the one that ends up looking dumb. That is why I always give the most simple, logical answer first and then assess the situation from there.
  9. You are missing a dimension. Need length, width, and height to figure out a box design with unless one of those has no limit to it.

  12. Level 4 DC box help

I am not sure about an SUV but subs up port up does not sound horrible in a hatchback. Actually it sounds pretty damn good and tends to get very loud in certain vehicles. A lot of Euro hatches do subs up port up and are super fucking loud!!! Anyway like I said I am not sure about doing both subs and port up in an SUV, but from personal experience sub up and port firing diagonal back into the corner of the hatch works very well for a single sub setup. The most recent SUV build that I did was a dual 15 box with a single 10" aeroport. The box was 5.5 cubes after displacement with 2 Crossfire XSPL V1 dual 1.4 ohm 15's. They were wired down to .35 ohms on a Sundown SCV3000D. The box was tuned to 47hz for SPL, however, would play over a 148 from 32-55hz. That is pretty damn cool if you ask me. It was an SPL box, but for some crazy reason was one of the absolute best sounding enclosures that I have ever built. Others that heard the box had no idea it was intended for SPL and not SQL. The best number that it put up was a 150.5 on the dash sealed with maybe 2200 watts after impedance rise. If we would have added more port area it would have probably helped to keep the rise down as well as increase the SPL due to more port area and the result of higher tuning. This more than likely would have killed any of the sound quality potential, and I say sound quality with the slightest amount of seriousness in my statement. If there is any interest in seeing the setup, it isn't pretty, let me know and I'll throw up a few pics that I snapped of it. It's not my build , but I did build the enclosure and do the box design. The setup is going to change to 2 Sundown ZV3 18's or quite possibly even 4 ZV3 18's ran off of a ton of power. The amplifier configuration isn't set in stone yet but will probably be a pair of Sundown SCV6000D's, SCV7500D's, or even a pair of NS2's when they are released.
  13. Anybody connected with USACi?

The reason why people are probably not going to be going to the show in NH on that day is because it falls on the same exact day as USACi World Finals in Wichita Falls, TX. If I were a betting man that would be where I would be putting my money at.
  14. Civic hatch wall help

That port looks like it is way too big to begin with imo. What are the dimensions on it?
  15. The wife said "Get what you want, but get good stuff!"

Sundown Audio SA component set is what I am going to try out here in the near future. I have always ran CDT component sets though and I would recommend them all day long. I have never had a bad experience with running CDT equipment ever. Good luck and tell your wife she is cool as shit for saying what she said!!!
  16. Ric, do you have any updates on the vehicle? I know you have that 150 in there somewhere. The Zv3's are no joke when it comes to SPL powerhouses.
  17. Good job buddy! What changes have you made to gain on your SPL score if you don't mind me asking? You are very close to that 150 my friend and I know you will have it very soon if you keep it up. I recently put up a decent offering in my Jetta trunk car. Just messing around with a friend's Sundown Audio scv6000d on my Sundown X15v2 in a 4.25cuft enclosure tuned to 34hz I put up a 148.5 on the dash sealed at 37hz. I have a very modest electrical that consists of a stock 65ah battery, a stock 140amp alternator, and a rear battery consisting of an XS Power d3100. So with very slim power to support the scv6000d I am making a shade under 2700 watts. The sub is firing towards the rear completely inside the trunk of the Jetta and the port is on the side of the enclosure facing the driver's side of the vehicle. Not too shabby off of a single 15 with 2700 watts and low tuned peaking at 37hz out of a trunk install. Do you have any plans for new equipment or possibly a new box for the vehicle? I think I am going to switch to 2 12" Sundown Audio Zv5 subwoofers. Obviously I am going to reinforce my electrical in the vehicle if I plan to run more power. I have a Sundown scv2000d that I normally run and I am either going to add a second one or upgrade to larger amps.
  18. Sundown TEAM 12

Considering that my Sundown X15v2 is handling a Sundown scv6000d right now I would say that yes the Team 12 will easily take everything a saz4500 has to offer. I don't have super stout electrical right now but I am at .5 ohms on the amp with a stock 140 amp alt, XS D3100, and stock battery under the hood. The gain is not turned up at all but I am easily making 2500-3000 watts and the sub handles it with ease. It will get hot after a while of loud playing but the coils read fine and the sub has zero damage done to it, yet
  19. I am sure I will gain once I do the trunk of the car. Also since I have a 4 door I would bet that the rear doors will help me gain too by deadening them. Any more progress? You are close to that 150!
  20. I have ran into that issue before with deadener. I ripped it off the roof while I was at a show. Too bad there wasn't a program where you add deadener and only pay for it if you gain. I am getting ready to buy some more for my car. I need to do the trunk. The only place I have any at in the entire car is the front doors.
  21. Painting box?

I would use Bondo to fill in any gaps that you mentioned. It works great on boxes especially ones made out of mdf. As far as painting goes I usually use birch and stain the box and then to a polyurethane over top of it to keep it nice. For mdf you will need to primer the wood first to get it ready to accept paint and look good in the process. You can just paint the raw mdf but it will look much better if you primer it with a coat or two first before you paint the box. Once you put a coat of paint on then I would suggest sanding it and doing another coat or two sanding before each new coat.
  22. According to the email that I got from Mike the 370 does 220 amps at idle and is the highest idle alt that he offers for my car. A 270 amp unit is $599 and it does 200 at idle though. The 370 amp model is only $150 more than the 270 so I figure why not right? For only $150 I get another 100 amps of juice.
  23. RIc, you are making me jealous man. I was happy with the 146.2 that I was doing on the dash in my car off 1084 watts until I saw this I am tuned super low and running a daily box that peaks at 38hz in the car, not to mention that the woofer is not an SPL woofer at all. I have access to 2 Crossfire XSPL 15's that I want to keep on low power to run for a fun SPL build. There is a competitor here in NC that runs in NSPL named Rick, and he is a member of Team Nemesis. He does 153's out of the trunk off of 2500 watts in a mid 1980's Honda Civic. The setup is subs up and port forward and is stupid loud off low power. What is your suggestion for my Jetta for the 2 15's in a low power class? I am thinking of 5.5 cubes after displacement with a single 10" aeroport. I do not have any experience with building a trunk for SPL, I am very versed in hatches and to my knowledge I had the loudest unwalled Focus ZX3 with the entire install in the hatch. The car did a 154.3 on the dash sealed with 2 Nightshade 15's and 2 saz3500's along with 3 XS Power D3100's all in the hatch and unwalled. Then I went to 4 12's with the same power and managed a 155.4 but I never took it to a competition and did it in the lanes. I would love some advice if you have any.
  24. I got a quote from Singer for My 2013 Jetta GLI and he said that he can do as large as a 370 amp unit in it as well as bypass the factory voltage limit to get it to charge higher than the 13.8 volts that it charges stock. The alt that is in the car now is a 140 amp stock unit and does well, but I am going to be running some decent power in the future so I am just going to do the 370 amp unit and be done with it. If you contact Mike he will get you a price on the different alts available, but I'll tell you now being a VW its not going to be cheap at all.
