truckin4life Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 So im building a new console/ sub box for my truck, its at 3.8 cubic ft, for 2 12" does that sound accurate.... Also, what would be the tuning for the port.... Ive heard anywhere from 25-50hz.... So im kinda torn, its strictly for music, no comps on this box... Plays rock, rap and country too.... Whats the best hz to tune the port to? thanks for the help! Also i tried searching several times, but came up with nothing... :/
Coolwazabi Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 well... my favorite is 35hz or so... get pretty low but moves air pretty good too... i'd say anywhere from 30-40hz ish is pretty good for daily... maybe even like 30-37.. 40hz is somewhat pushing it for comp/daily route

Decaf Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 depends on the subs too... some have weak suspensions and need to be tuned low to get low and some are very strong and can be tuned to 40hz and still hit hard on high 20's
Noobtastic14 Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 yup i agree, 35-37 is a good moderate tuning. you wont lose lows found in most music and you'll still have a decent punch in the upper areas.. whatever you do i demand PIX OR :ban: -Drew I am a United States Military Arts and Crafts Professional. Decaf Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 well since u mentioned rock & country and rap... 35hz is a damn good number... anything higher tends to have major peaks in output which can be good when competiting but not so good when going for an overall daily driver what subs... really dictates alot

Not even sure of the brand.... 2 12"s I think like lightening audio or something..... Im almost 100% sure they came from wal-mart, but i got em free, so i cant complain... They hit hard and stand up to my abuse so, they got to be atleast ok.... Hopefully soon i will get some better subs..... Ive had a nice build up in the works for awhile now... Still getting stuff together for it.... Kingsuv has given me some idea's and some tips as well... The new system should POUND! Oh this is also going in my 95 f250 ext cab....
