BassJunkie Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 I was given a free amp a while back forgot I had it. When you hook it up all it does is just thumps the subs, dunno why, its not just one thump its repeated thump thump thump. Opened it up nothing is burnt, I inspected it for quite a while and couldn't find anything that looked bad in it. I'll throw some pics up tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone knows off hand whats going on. 1986 C20 Suburban 9 American Bass XFL 15's B2 M1MKII 14v XS Power Batteries Maxwell Caps Acoustical energy is free. MickyMcD Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 My bet is the output relays engaging, faulting and disengaging, then engaging again. Sends a repeated thumping to low frequency drivers and popping to high frequency drivers. A ten'er says relays. Boon Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Could be the amp turns on the output section, finds something is wrong and goes into protect... then because the output section is turned off it comes back out of protect, turns the output section on again... repeat ad nauseum ;/ Whatever it is, sounds pretty broken Could be something simple though. Need an expert to take a look at it really. 10.x volts fo' life!
