SuperLegoMan Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 Today I hooked up my happily delivered RF T-4004 amp. However, I am having a problem that I have never seen before through my years of installing and tinkering with car audio. The receiver I have is a sony xplod (hate to say it lol) receiver, the one with the blue screen and red lights with the integrated iPod cable that comes out the back. forgot which model number it is... When I have the receiver set to tuner, the amp is powered on and my woofers are pounding as u would expect them to. The problem is, when I set the receiver to CD, front Aux, or iPod, the amp cuts off completely. no power light, no protect light, nothing. I checked my ground on the amp and it's grounded good with a nice big fat screw in the trunk. this same problem happened with my previous 1000w amp that I had a couple weeks ago, so I don't think the problem lies within the new amplifier, old amplifier, or the amp wires. Any suggestions lads? 'U never seen hell til you've worked at WalMart 1716 over nite"
01xtreme Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 sounds like for some reason you head unit isn't putting out a signal though the remote wire while on CD, aux, or Ipod. Assuming your power and ground are working fine (which they are if you are able to have the amp turn on at all) the only thing to keep it from turning on is the remote wire. My System: Pioneer AVH-P3200BT 4-Dayton 7 inch reference series (front doors) 8-Onkyo 3/4 inch tweeters (dash) 1-Sundown Audio 100.4D (mids/highs) 2-18" BTL's (for now) Crescendo 3kwp (for sale) Complete rebuild coming soon...
duct_tape123 Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 You have a power antenna hooked up to your remote. It only works in tuner mode because its for an antenna. You have to look for another blue wire and try it.
McLovin Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 nvm duct tape got it Credo Quia Absurdum

Ok thanks for the reply, since I was short on cash I know it was a bad idea but I had to get a cheap wiring kit from Scoshe or whatever they're called. Shoulda got fosgate cables but i ended up swamping my credit card anyway :\ I'll look into a new remote wire to see if that'll fix it. Thanks for the help! duct_tape123 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 You don't need a new remote wire, you hooked up the wrong wire to the radio. Instead of solid blue on the radio's wiring harness you want blue with white stripe. Just swap the wire over to blue w/ stripe and you should be good.
