Sniper
I'm like the cool kid of the forum, So, did a little work on the car, ran the Dayton RCAs from the head unit, through the car, around the side opposite from the power line (much cleaner and no engine noise) to the trunk, now I just need to get off my ass and send out the cash for the Kole then we can start building 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE Broke stock Head Unit Stock speakers suck -if I get a job, it gets 2 SA 8s in a 2.5cube box (roughly 2 cube with the port and woofers in)- -oh, and a new HU and some speakers that dont suck. and possibly a new muffler and tint job (previous owners tint is smudging in the back, if you know how to get tint off a window without damaging the heating stuff, let me know!!!)-
Eskii
I guess you didnt know im 15 then, I dont have money to buy something like a T4K, and now that I look at it, this thing has a rating of 160, 4x30 equaling 120, with an internal "hot" fuse of 40, meaning its 160 total, a thermal fuse works like a circuit breaker in your house, it can turn off and on, if the overload is too much, it is bypassed and it blows the 30s, basically saying, since my electronics system is going to be 14.4, this equals 2710w with the efficiency of this amp being 85, if you dont believe me, research the chips used in the amp, in other words, its stable at 2200W @ 1ohm, so please all you haters, suck it. How the hell did you get the T4k you broke in that car accident of yours?? Sniper
it belonged to my friend Josh, and it was technically his car and my subs (his 6 12" JL 12w3 subs were stolen, including the box ) 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE Broke stock Head Unit Stock speakers suck -if I get a job, it gets 2 SA 8s in a 2.5cube box (roughly 2 cube with the port and woofers in)- -oh, and a new HU and some speakers that dont suck. and possibly a new muffler and tint job (previous owners tint is smudging in the back, if you know how to get tint off a window without damaging the heating stuff, let me know!!!)-
Eskii
your trying to make it sound like I dont know woofers, i've built speakers for sakes, a vent in the pole piece can blow out air in one direction, but if the frequencies right, you'll get hot air that doesnt leave, thats why theres a such thing as the VCS, is a vented cooling system, it basically means that the "cup", which is the part under the spider, basically the little bowl that lets the spider have clearance to travel down, force air in to the coil as the pole piece forces the air out, which is great for rapid cooling, most high power subs have a VCS, this one is single, meaning, its no different than a pole piece aeroport. and seriously, why do you think that a MT is gonna sit there and not move? Do you even know what its QTS is? handles power very nicely, kicks pretty well with my Kenwood, but 300w/rms isnt enough, I mean it can thump pretty nice, I can see about a half inch movement in free air, but im not gonna dick with this till I get the Kole on it. You're always gonna have hot air leaving the woofer, regardless of frequency. As stated previously it doesn't just used forced convection... Natural convection from the air being heated, thus increasing specific volume For a bit of info Sniper, heat transfer occurs in 3 forms. Convection, conduction and radiation. Consider that while designing your system if ya thinkin that thermal is gonna be a prob. Sniper
the t4 wasnt stolen, it was killed when we got sideswiped driving out of the parking lot, which bent the amp in at about 22.5 degrees, rendering the amp killed, amazingly Josh didnt say it was my fault and just carried on, if your wondering how a bunch of high school bassheads like me and josh got a hold of a t4, he works at a shop called Audio Specialists down the street, so he back-doored it and said it was dead for a customer, not exactly what i'd do, but it works, he's still got his Powercells on em, its that one bat steve uses, cant picture the maker, but its not optima or kinetik, eitherway, im off to bed, long night... x.x 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE Broke stock Head Unit Stock speakers suck -if I get a job, it gets 2 SA 8s in a 2.5cube box (roughly 2 cube with the port and woofers in)- -oh, and a new HU and some speakers that dont suck. and possibly a new muffler and tint job (previous owners tint is smudging in the back, if you know how to get tint off a window without damaging the heating stuff, let me know!!!)-
