62caddy Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Hello all. I am new here and need some advice on what to buy for my Cadillac. I was looking at the Fi BTL 18" subs. I want it to pound hard and loud, but I also want clean. I have never heard these subs in person. I only know they can hit high SPLs. Its gonna be a weekend driver, with SOME (probably very little) competition. I more so want a clean, loud system that'll blow my friends away. One of my buddies said DON'T get 15s or 18s if I want clean, but I figured I'd get your opinion here on this forum. I haven't had much luck with caraudio.com, so here I am! RamenNoodles Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 If you want really clean, and crisp bass, try a 18" Ascendant Audio Havoc. I have a BTL and I love how it sounds but when it hits the lows, its all about the lows. I personally think it sounds good, but that is all in opinion. I think you would be better off with a Havoc. 01xtreme Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 I personally love how my BTL's sound. like stated earlier, they LOVE the lows. but they seem to play pretty much everything well. it is very much install dependent. RamenNoodles Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 Yea dont get me wrong, I love my BTL as well. I mean I LOVE it. Different strokes for different folks you know. You tune it lower, like around 32, it will be very musical, you tune it high, less lows, more higher notes etc. 70% of a subs install is the box itself. GO and get a FI BTL 18" sub it will pound hard and loud but it depend on the enclosures. I know you want the music to sound clean but i didn't think the 18" BTL is Sq sub. I would probably go for RE xxx for SQ and can do get loud too depend on the install. If you want a sub to be loud and hit hard then i suggest going for the BTL because that is what you want. Your buddy told you not to get big sub because it will sound clean and it can true but you want loudness and bigger sub have more cone. THat's what you want. Smaller sub can play clean but it might be loud enough to impress other around unless you add more cone. LIke i said go for 18" don't let friends tell you what to do. I don't know how loud you want to be because eveyone hearing is probably different.
