Skitzo_xa Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Should I get a 4ga or a 0/1 ga amp kit? The amp takes a 4ga power/ground but I have seen the 0/1 input box w/ 4x 4ga outputs. Also the 4ga amp kit comes w/ a 150amp anl fuse and the 0/1 comes w/ a 250amp fuse. Since I will only be running 1500w @ 2ohm will I only need a 150amp fuse? Or should I get a circuit breaker? Could I use a 0/1 amp kit and use a 150 circuit breaker? Or will that work at all.

Or will that work at all. personally i'd get the 1/0 gauge kit and yes you can just put a 150 amp fuse in it. if you decide to add a highs amp to your system then you can up the 150 amp fuse to a 200 or 250 ( depending on the size your 2nd amp). also use ANL FUSES ...... i wouldn't bother with the circuit breakers. 2-DC 15XLM2 D.7s 1-DC 5K amp (1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR) 3 runs 1/0ga for power and 2 runs of 1/0ga for negative. Breakers are just a convenient way to cut the power off, but fuses are better for your application. Breakers sometimes have problems and aren't reliable if they trip too many times from current. I have four runs of 1/0 and each of those is on a 250A breaker under the hood, but my amps have ANL fuses off the batteries in the back. The way I see it, if something happens by the amp, the fuses will pop and if something happens to one of my batteries, I'll potentially lose my battery bank but the breakers will trip and save my 'under the hood' battery. It's a bit of a contradiction, but instead of me replacing 6 fuses in that case, I would only replace two, reset my breakers, and check for a voltage drop across them. They have not blown yet so they are in good condition. EDIT: Does that make sense? Need an install? Hit me up.[email protected]Got car audio questions? So run a breaker off each battery? Not necessarily, that's just what I do. For your setup, I would just stick with the fuse. For me, it's just a pain in the ass to remove a ton of fuses. But you only have one so it's not a big deal. If you have a battery in the back, you already have wires ran through? Need an install? Hit me up.[email protected]Got car audio questions? Skitzo_xa Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 well i have everything sitting in my closet. so nothing is in my car yet. I may throw a fuse in the front and a breaker in the back. maybe a fuse in back. not sure yet. still desiding, i see alot of ppl like fuses.
