Guest
Well, about an hour ago i go turn on my receiver and sub. they both turn on fine, i go to my computer to play a song, right before i open a song i hear a pop. i go "oh shit" and i looked back at my receiver, the LCD screen is off but all the other led's are on. i play a song to see if its just the screen that went bad, nothing, no sound whatsoever came out of my speakers. at this time im pretty ticked off and i checked all of my wiring, its all fine. i take out the wires from my receiver to see if it would turn on, nothing. although i did notice that the side of the lcd screen came up dimly then went away when i turned on the receiver one time. for reference - when i normally turn on my receiver i hear one click right away, and thats the lcd and all the led's turning on, and then another click a few seconds later indicating that the amp is now powered and outputting sound. when i turn it on now, i only hear the first click and nothing more. well, thats my story for today, probably gonna go to the thrift store to find another old school receiver tomorrow. btw, if you guys are looking for a great amp that can handle heavy 4 ohm loads, this one would do the job, model # is SA-R230 Edited December 18, 2008 by Krannyman92

Guest
i found a small tube fuse rated at 4 amps and 125v inside the amp, it has a spiral spring inside of it and its intact... edit: it reads around 30Kohms if thats normal. Boon
Fuses should be 0 ohms. That's probably your problem... although it might have blown because something else has gone bad. Sometimes those fuses burn at the very ends, where they connect to the end caps. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
