cool cool

I think I might go with a mach5 audio subwoofer in the big box, now the question is what style, Tapered or a basic slot ported

1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE

Broke stock Head Unit

Stock speakers suck

-if I get a job, it gets 2 SA 8s in a 2.5cube box (roughly 2 cube with the port and woofers in)-

-oh, and a new HU and some speakers that dont suck. and possibly a new muffler and tint job (previous owners tint is smudging in the back, if you know how to get tint off a window without damaging the heating stuff, let me know!!!)-

tapped1832hz.jpg

dont rely on the dimensions, even at 5ft high, 21" wide, and about that deep, its still only about 32-33hz, maybe another foot taller to get that 27hz wave

So yeah, they get big

I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

tapped horn is a really good box idea. Before I knew there was such a thing, I called them Phase lines. And then Pete had a different name.

All it is, is combining the rear wave, and front wave, and putting them in "Phase" to get a more efficient bass. Gets louder easier at tuning.

The ones I have built have actually had a really club sound to them, like punchy, yet deep, throw some techno on, and you have a bass thats pounding at 80hz, then just dropping to 30hz like its nothing

But again, I never went beyond 10", I know designs, and the woofers will vary whether it gets boomy, or very wide bandwidth like I have had. I prefer to make something like this and know it will have a higher Q at tuning

Do you have any of the 10" designs laying around? I am about to take some leave and this would be a great to pass the time.

That is why there is HornResp to model tapped horns, rear loading horns, and other horns.

Throwing together a tapped horn and guessing the compression ratio and expansion rates whether its conical taper or exponential taper usually ends in crappy results.

Ahh, lots-ta-learn

Where the hell is that program? I can only find the formulas, and since I sucked at mat, I have always done what works best for the horn area.

When you see me build Tlines with larger opens, and smaller area at the beginning of the line, it works out fine when I use my method, and really increases low end response over standard tlines.

But I'am interested in the design software if its available
