a_steezy Posted December 24, 2008 Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 Wow whoever is saying it's fine is rather totally wrong (Krannyman, reinke...)The coils should be almost the same impedance. Clearly you have burnt the coil that's at 3 ohms and some of the windings are shorting together. Stop using the sub. It's fucked. sub is out and being used as a door stop lol like you said windings are shorting together and i know for a fact, when i first installed the sub it sat perfectly at 2 ohms, didnt check each individual vc then now the sub is sitting at 1.3-1.5 something isn't right and bangin' i checked the ohm loads with it sitting on a table in my house, no real factors, not toughing the cone or anything ima try to meet up with a buddy with 2 12" L5's tomorrow and hook them up to my amp and see if it cuts out and goes into protect, if it works properly, it's the sub which i'm pretty sure it is Quote '98 Dodge Durango 5.9L 5% front windows, 2.5% on all backs Alpine CDA-9883 Kicker ZX350.4 Kicker KS650's in all doors Kicker 1/0 hyperflex
banginAltima Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Put the sub back in the box and hook up each coil by it self. That will tell you which coil is bad. Play it on the good coil until you can get another sub. Quote If you build it, db's will come... NSPL World Record Holder Trunk 0-1800 watts---147.9 with 1722 clamped watts @ 40Hz(9-20-09).
