i know it's a stupid question ha

but i think i blew 1 of the two coils on my L7

i the sub is wired to 2 ohms and has been, checked it this morning and it said it was at +-1.4 ohms, i've checked it in the past and it's always said 2.0

is there a way to check each individual coil or where should i go from here?

measure resistance of each one

oh damn haha gotcha, i think i was putting it from +vc1 into +vc2

not staying in the same vc+ to -

hardcore brainfart, thanks james

final ohm load on the sub this morning was 1.4ish

vc1= 3.0 ohm

vc2= 3.6 ohm

it's a 4 ohm sub...

what is this telling me? i'm lost

my L7 it's a 4 ohm dvc sub... always had it wired to 2 ohms

last night amp started cutting out zx1500.1 and i believe it's because the final ohm load on the sub this morning was 1.4ish and the amp would handle it...?

just checked each vc

vc1= 3.0 ohm

vc2= 3.6 ohm

what is this telling me? i'm lost

remember it's a 4 ohm sub and i'm getting 3's

i wouldnt think anything is wrong if it is playing fine. you probably broke it in finally.

3 and 3.6 are good numbers for a dual 4 ohm coil, with box impedance rise you should be just around 2 ohms (with the way you have it wired already).

check your RCA's, power, ground, speaker wire, any wire shorts.

btw whats up with your avatar steezy lol, i keep staring at it

alright, because it plays good, then when i turn the sub up, not even 1/2 it cuts out and puts the amp into protect, for probably 5 seconds then i turn it down and it'll play with the sub pushing almost nothing

i thought it was possibly going into protect due to the impedance...?

i've checked all connections and they're solid so idk ha :unknw:

Touching the cone in any way will change the ohms. Moving the sub while trying to get a reading will change it also. If the sub is loose enough, even wind can change the reading.

Wow whoever is saying it's fine is rather totally wrong (Krannyman, reinke...)

The coils should be almost the same impedance. Clearly you have burnt the coil that's at 3 ohms and some of the windings are shorting together.

Stop using the sub. It's fucked.
