2 Batteries In Trunk

Recommended Posts

Ok, quick run down. I will be installing a 200amp HO Alternator with a Kinetik HC1400 up front and doing the big three with all 1/0 gauge wire. In the back I will be placing 2 Kinetik HC1800 in the trunk. This is to power 2 SAE1000d's (90amps each) and a SAX-100.4D (also 90 amps). Each SAE1000D's will be ran at 1ohm and on a single Pioneer TS-W3001D2.

The thing I am a little unclear with is how do I hook the batteries in the trunk up to the front. Do i use a single 1/0 run from the alternator back to the first battery and then piggy back to the second? Or do I run off the front battery back to back batteries.

Head Unit: Alpine CDA 9887

Sub Amps: 4 RF2500's

Subs: 8 SA-12's Walled

Comp Amp: 1 RF600.2 (for now)

Comps: (4) 6.5 Punch Mid Pros and 2 Punch Pro Tweeters

Batteries: (1) XS D5100 (5) D3100

Power Cables: 2 runs of 2/0 power and ground each front to back(Try-Star)

Alternator: Dual Mechman Rhino 250's

Deadener: Fatmat / Damplifier Pro

There is three ways you can do this...

1. You can run 2 wires from front to back

2. You can run 1 wire from the front to one battery in the back and then to the other battery

3. You can run 1 wire into a fused distribution block then to both batteries (this is how I run mine)

Ok, so let me see if i got this. I would take a run off my positive terminal up front and run it to the back. I would then run it into a fused distribution block and them take a run to each battery. Do I then need to have a cable run between the batteries them self?

Also when it comes to wiring up the amps dose it matter which battery I pull from or should I have some sort if positive bus bar? If I use a buss bar can i just hook that up to one of the batteries.

There is no need for a cable between batteries because the distribution block does that already.

Your powering two amps right? Just wire one amp to one battery.

I will be powering a total of three amps..(2 SAE1000d's and a SAX-100.4D)..

The 100.4 doesn't put that much current. You can pull it from one battery. Or see about pulling it from the distribution block.

Edit: You could run a 4 gauge from the front for the 100.4.
