That's because you're running a million watts more than RMS to each one, I don't think having them out of the box will help much...

Inverted with motors out works great for sealed boxes getting a lot of amplifier power. You can imagine pushing 1000wrms into a 12" sub in a 1cu.ft sealed how fast that 1cu.ft of air gets HOT. With a ported box it doesn't matter and as mentioned changes the tuning slightly due to the larger air space in the box without motor displacement.

Most people don't realize it but you can fry a sub in a sealed box pretty easy due to heat.

Hopefully this is helpful to you guys. I have now done a test in three different applications where the woofer was mounted normal, loudest score was recorded and then the woofers were inverted and the score was recorded. In every single vehicle (one SUV, my wagon, and a trunk car) the score with the woofer inverted was not as strong. I wanted to try this because I felt the baskets on the tc3000/axis/lighting audio storm/lmt/rls was poorly designed and thought it might be causing some kind of turbulence with airflow. Test results said I was wrong :)

Keep in mind though I still think it may be application specific. (larger box with the sub inverted should pull the note down but it is to a very minute degree since there is such a small change in airspace) As to weather or not that lower note will work the the vehicle...well that is why it is application specific. Some of the loudest street scores at finals have been done with inverted woofers....that also does not mean the score wouldn't have been louder if the woofers were mounted normal either. The amount of port area needed in such a small enclosure leaves some competitors no choice.
