a_steezy Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 I'm looking into picking one up, and would want to get it everything it needs and treat it right anyone have advice on them? i've read you feed them every 2-4 weeks depending on what i get? are they fairly inexpensive pets to care for besides the electric bill from the lamp/lamps? Airborne Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 What size can you deal with? Too many people make the mistake of getting a boa or python then the thing gets near or over 10 feet long and the realize they are not capable of caring for it.
badasschevy Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 i've got two. a 7' columbian boa, and a 4.5' ball python. the ball python is a good beginner snake. they dont get to big, and are easy to handle. my snakes get fed once every 1-2 weeks depending on the size of their rats. if you go with a ball python you could get away with a 55 gallon tank. give it a place to hide,and a decent sized water bowl that it can submerge its body in. get yourself a heat lamp and stay away from those heating rocks or caves, they are known to cause burns. for bedding i use aspen bedding any pet store will have it, and its easy to take care of. stay away from pine bedding it can kill them. they also will live long time so they will be around a while, i've had mine for 8+ years now. heres a couple pics of mine. center console: lvl 4 12 1.75 cu ft tuned 37htz alpine cda-9886 dc audio 120.4 infinity kappa 6.5" components

Trade you my dog for it. He has one eye but that only makes for bad depth perception so hey so what if he is running into shit, look at it this way he is easy to sneak up ninja style on.
