I have one of my TV's in the same spot, right above the fireplace and i didnt run the wires thru the wall. I ran them strategicly and they are invisible but the way you did it is how it should be done. Plus, by hanging it, you just bought yourself some more real-estate in that room which is a GREAT thing!
