Ryan_L7 Posted February 3, 2007 Report Share Posted February 3, 2007 I dont know anything about my car's electrical system, so im aware that this might be a really dumb question. i have an 850 watt rms/1700 watt peak amp powering one subwoofer and a 125x4 watt rms amp powering my mids/tweeters. My headlights dim greatly when the bass hits, and gague lights do too, so i think its straining my electrical system. Can this hurt my alternator? What is the best way to fix this problem? I was told to get another battery (optima yellow top), to make a total of two batteries in my car. Is this better than getting a capacitator? I appreciate all the help i can get. A BATTERY UPGRADE (optima red top or Stinger Audio Battery under hood) would be a much better idea than adding a 2nd battery w/ your stock alternator as the stock alt would doubtfully be able to charge 2 batteries if it is currently having trouble keeping the stock/single battery charged. Make sense? If you really wanna make a difference you should get a high output alternator. Iraggi, excessive amperage, and Ohio Generators all make HO bolt in alts.
