It takes some creativity to completely overhaul a song into a different genre.

Meh.. Lil Waynes version of the song IMO isnt rap or hip-hop its more so pop.. so switching from pop to rock isnt that hard, and they really didnt overhaul it.. not trying to sound like a dick jus statin my opinion
