are those ports getting glued down to keep them from flexing/rattling?

and my .02, if it fits, i'd run another dowel side to side, glued and glassed if possible to the ones already there, just to tie everything together and make it indestructable.

As for the ports, (all parts 6" diameter) I am going to glue a Precision Port Connecting Ring in each mounting hole for the ports, then black Gorilla Tape the outside flares onto those. A 12" Precision Port Tube will be glued into the otherside of those Connecting Rings. The 6" PVC Elbows will be glued to the Port Tubes and I'll probably Gorilla tape the inside flares to the other end of the Elbows. The Elbows will be up against the top and bottom walls so I wonder if I could just use fiberglass to secure them to the box.

Let me get your opinion on this, I was planning on just using regular Gorilla glue to glue those port pieces together, is that good enough or do you recommend something better?

As for the dowel side to side, that sounds like an awesome idea, let me get the ports back in and see what I can come up with.

Yea, I'm anxious to see this done too, its very difficult for me to go this slow, but I'm forcing myself to go one step at a time so I don't make a stupid mistake. I'm kinda shooting blind on this one, my last build many years ago was a sealed isobaric enclosure, this is my first ported one so I'm going strictly on research and advice, most of it garnered from SMD. But my persistance is paying off. Before I started building I was shooting for 6cf after all displacements tuned to 28hz. I just took all my final measurements of the inside of the enclosure, ports as they will be installed and also the dowel supports. The final net volume is 5.93cf tuned to 28.95hz, so I came very close to my plans, I'm happy with that.

def glue, or glass, or screw the ports down, just because of the material they are and the pressure involved, they will vibrate, and since they already touch the walls of the box, you'll get a nice clicking/vibrating sound

as far as connecting the elbows and such, an assload of gorilla tape would work, that stuff is surprisingly good and atleast that way you can reuse it

if you're set on gluing them together, spend the few bux at the hardware store and get PVC cleaner and adhesive/epoxy, gorilla glue would probably work, cuz that stuff is amazing, but that purple pvc shit bonds like you wouldnt believe, and in a few seconds to boot.

if there is no easy way to glue the ports down in the box or glass them down or anything(i think glassing is the best bet), consider a piece of wood like... |o|... where the port tube goes through the center, and one edge is glued down

and finish this and get to the deck so i can get some ideas for my car

The bottom 4.25" is 33" wide to clear the strut towers. Above that is 36" wide.

Raytard, I took your suggestion and ran with it. Went over to Home Depot and picked up another 1" oak dowel rod and a 1" Freud Forstener Drill Bit. It came out better than I thought!! I just have to do the 2 outside sections after I put the sides of the box on.

Instead of trying to fit clamps in there, just used zip ties to hold them tight while the glue dried.

i've really never seen anyone do it just like that before, but it looks beefy as all hell, and looks stronger than what i had in mind (like not cutting them, just touching them and glueing them together where they touch)

i knew i was gonna learn something from you going to continue them all the way to the sides i suppose?
