Pioneer~Saturn
Hey guys, Ive been finalizing a plan on my enclosure for a pair of 18" Omega's that will be an upgrade this spring/summer. It wont be identical to this in every way due to just making rough estimates on everything out at my car and then drawing it up on sketch-up. It will be subs forwards behind the front seats, port up in the rear window. But this will come out to around: 12.308 cubes net 30.25 Hz tuning 202.5 sq inches of port This will be tuned nice and low for daily pretty much but I will be pretty darn active in comps with it, just wanting to have it low, have some fun, not too worried about how it meters...just want it to destroy the lows and beast stuff, which I think is a good possibility Like this: I'll hopefully start a build-log once it begins in about 3 weeks or so I'd predict. And the first 18" Omega will be here this Wednesday Quote Team Tupperware <First dual-alternator 'real' Saturn (pre-2002) on the planet>(3) 15" Fi SP4's fed by (2) M3a's strapped @ .66712.75 cubes net @ 25Hz with 200 sq inches of port area (lowz...?)Stock alt position (custom bracket) 225 amp Mechman Roof = steel and fiberglass (u mad?)(2) XS Power D3100's, (2) rhino batts, No battery upfront (for now, smh)4 power+ 4 ground runs of 1/0-gauge to rear"If its been done before...you're doing it wrong" : ) "stfu about scores and float $hit..." Pioneer~Saturn
Opinions on covering/finishing it? And Im really looking to get another XXX10000 in the future to really make this come to life, but that'll be down the road and I'd want to be getting another 3-4 D3100's and that's just too much $ to be spending right now, im going to save up though...a man can dream Edited March 9, 2009 by Pioneer~Saturn Quote Team Tupperware <First dual-alternator 'real' Saturn (pre-2002) on the planet>(3) 15" Fi SP4's fed by (2) M3a's strapped @ .66712.75 cubes net @ 25Hz with 200 sq inches of port area (lowz...?)Stock alt position (custom bracket) 225 amp Mechman Roof = steel and fiberglass (u mad?)(2) XS Power D3100's, (2) rhino batts, No battery upfront (for now, smh)4 power+ 4 ground runs of 1/0-gauge to rear"If its been done before...you're doing it wrong" : ) "stfu about scores and float $hit..." I would say since you are tuning low and want to use it for comps that you cover it with bedliner to minimize flex. Pioneer~Saturn
Well it'd be some support yea...but the outside of this is going to be getting a butt-load of fiberglassing to add support (as well as the inside, it'll be fiberglassed as well). And thanks Edited March 9, 2009 by Pioneer~Saturn Quote Team Tupperware <First dual-alternator 'real' Saturn (pre-2002) on the planet>(3) 15" Fi SP4's fed by (2) M3a's strapped @ .66712.75 cubes net @ 25Hz with 200 sq inches of port area (lowz...?)Stock alt position (custom bracket) 225 amp Mechman Roof = steel and fiberglass (u mad?)(2) XS Power D3100's, (2) rhino batts, No battery upfront (for now, smh)4 power+ 4 ground runs of 1/0-gauge to rear"If its been done before...you're doing it wrong" : ) "stfu about scores and float $hit..." Pioneer~Saturn
Yea, I can see where your coming from..I may give it some thought At first I was worried about spray-anything due to it being installed in the car but Im going to be removing the rear window for the build so it'll be out of the way...I could tape off everything and see what I could do possibly...hmm Quote Team Tupperware <First dual-alternator 'real' Saturn (pre-2002) on the planet>(3) 15" Fi SP4's fed by (2) M3a's strapped @ .66712.75 cubes net @ 25Hz with 200 sq inches of port area (lowz...?)Stock alt position (custom bracket) 225 amp Mechman Roof = steel and fiberglass (u mad?)(2) XS Power D3100's, (2) rhino batts, No battery upfront (for now, smh)4 power+ 4 ground runs of 1/0-gauge to rear"If its been done before...you're doing it wrong" : ) "stfu about scores and float $hit..." Nightshade
Doug, I think that you should resin the entire outside with as even of a coat as possible. Then sand it down to 440 or something like that and then paint the box. That will be the loudest way of making it look nice. You get the reduction of air turbulence by having the resin on the outside and then the paint will make it look better than wood with resin on it. I've seen your skills and I would think that you could do it all yourself with no problems. Pioneer~Saturn
Yea, I was thinking about paint as well...but idk what would look decent, I dont think I'd want a shiny paint job on it though Quote Team Tupperware <First dual-alternator 'real' Saturn (pre-2002) on the planet>(3) 15" Fi SP4's fed by (2) M3a's strapped @ .66712.75 cubes net @ 25Hz with 200 sq inches of port area (lowz...?)Stock alt position (custom bracket) 225 amp Mechman Roof = steel and fiberglass (u mad?)(2) XS Power D3100's, (2) rhino batts, No battery upfront (for now, smh)4 power+ 4 ground runs of 1/0-gauge to rear"If its been done before...you're doing it wrong" : ) "stfu about scores and float $hit..."
