ChiefDankBud
Alright, so i notice when my windows are down the lows sounds significantly louder/clearer. I usually have the sunroof open, the two front windows and sometimes the back. With my one 12 the roof flexs hardcore on those low notes cuz i adjusted the amp and ect. I no it has to do with air space and movement. I was wondering if i got a ported box would it sound like that all the time, and when i do open the windows would it be even better? Sp33dyG
yes in a ported box depending on how low u tune it the lows would be louder and it would get alittle more louder with the windows down and the back seats down Quote the only person i wouldnt let build my box would be Ray. brewer_brewer
ported is gonna be louder. but you'll always get a db or two louder with the windows down or cracked. there are some freak installs that get louder sealed though. what size is your box? i'm assuming the pic in your avatar is your sub, so with that, you'll gain a lot by building a bigger ported box because that is one small box. tequila
yea my box is ported and when i open my window(s) the lows are much louder. i think its got something to do with sound wave cancellation, the sound waves breaking themselves when they hit the windows? More the fact that your car is acting like a huge enclosure itself, when you open the window you are essentially changing your car from a sealed box to a ported.
