John Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 First off I would like to introduce myself. My name is John McNary. I am 19 and I reside in Kansas City, Missouri. Been into audio for as long as I can remember. Found www.stevemeadedesigns.com about 2 months ago and I can honestly say I have learned more in these past few months, about audio, than I have in my entire life. Now lets get to the point shall we!? I am finally going to take the leap and put what I have always wanted into my 1999 4 door Tahoe. A very clean and crisp sounding system with breathtaking bass! I am basically starting at square one on this build. I have no electrical upgrades and no sound proofing done to the vehicle what so ever. Everything that is in the truck now is being ripped out and replaced for the new system. Basically what I am looking for is a very musical system that has blended mids and highs with loud and clean bass. Essentially one very nice daily driver! This will not be a SQ or SPL build platform. (That is for the other hoe I have waiting in the garage!) I am not a fan of ear splitting highs or bass that drowns out all noise. I have done some research but I need some opinions and suggestions from you guys. Here is what I have been tossing around for this build. Let me remind you that nothing is set in stone but it will give you an idea of what I am looking for. Headunit: Alpine IVA-D106 Subwoofers and Amp(s) 2 DC lvl 3 15" Sundown 1500.1 Mids and Highs Rainbow cs 265.25 6x5 2 way in front Rainbow slc 265 6x5 2 way in rear Rockford Fosgate Punch 400 watt 4 channel I have no idea what I would need as far as electrical upgrades go. Or even if this setup is remotely what I am looking for as I have not listened to any of these brands of speakers or subs. Not sure what I should tune the box to in order to achieve the desired quality and eye rattling bass I am shooting for. I would like an equalizer for my mids and highs so I can fine tune them to my liking also. I want to try and keep my budget around $2000. More is definetly not a problem but I of course don't want to drop 5 grand into this setup. Any help would be great and I would like to thank you for it before hand! 1999 Chevy Tahoe Level 4 15" AP 3000d Rockford and Phoenix Gold Componets T400.2 Mechman 250 amp Rhino 2 Kinetik 2400 GET LOUD : STAY LOUD : SLAP RESPONSIBLY
wildbeast15 Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 i think with that setup you will be very pleased and not have to upgrade your electrical... The set up your talking about would sound great in my Tahoe. Trade you my dog for it. He has one eye but that only makes for bad depth perception so hey so what if he is running into shit, look at it this way he is easy to sneak up ninja style on. (right side only)</div>
Namosh Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 Welcome. You picked some good gear. Should be able to get loud enough. Of course, you could always go bigger. My Ram Quad Cab Blow-through
brewer_brewer Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 upgrade your front batt to the largest you can fit in there, do the big 3 and you'll be fine. i've told this to three or four people today. lol REFS http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/itrader.php?u=2026 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/44535-official-brewer-brewer-feedback/page__p__625998__hl__brewer__fromsearch__1entry625998 "you're not allowing natural selection to work, you're like the guy that invented the seatbelt"
camino_1to3 Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 What you're looking into is nice, I personally own 15"s, though if I was looking for the perfect sounding musical setup I would go with the 12"s. They still get low and still have nice punchy bass, not that a 15" woofer doesn't, I just think 12"s correspond better with what you're looking for. Team T3 Audio Team Sundown Audio Team O.B.M Operation Beast Mode "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear" wigglez that was a bit over the top, i dont want to invison dw giving any young lady a "cream pie" let alone "throat babies".
John Posted March 14, 2009 Author Report Posted March 14, 2009 Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys! I just got the prices for the lvl4 from Rusty and I am thining I might as well go with those because they are still in my price range. What amp and electrical upgrades should I go with for either two 15's or two 18's? 1999 Chevy Tahoe Level 4 15" AP 3000d Rockford and Phoenix Gold Componets T400.2 Mechman 250 amp Rhino 2 Kinetik 2400 GET LOUD : STAY LOUD : SLAP RESPONSIBLY
