finkster Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) thanks for all the insight!! ok another question... does inverting a sub make any difference besides looks?? not really, besides changing the air space in the enclosure because the motor is no longer in the box...u may hear slight (i doubt it) noise coming from the motor but thats it... I inverted my L7 for giggles and didnt hear a difference... Edited March 13, 2009 by finkster Quote DAT 4125------>RE XXX comps active Eclipse cd7000 I serve drunks for a living
ISO Posted March 13, 2009 Report Posted March 13, 2009 (edited) thanks for all the insight!! ok another question... does inverting a sub make any difference besides looks?? Depending on the subwoofer you may have some mechanical noise from the suspension and the cooling vents may whistle in some cases. I would only worry about that if all your stuff is in the same area as you. Example extended cab pickup trucks and SUV's. Trunks of cars that still have the backseat in you shouldn't here the mechanical noises at all. Just make sure that when you invert your subs you will need to hook up your speaker wire out of phase. Woofers in the box normal you do positive from the amp to the positive on the woofer and same for the negative. When you invert them so the basket is on the out side of the enclosure you want to wire positve from the amp to the negative on the woofer and the negative from the amp to the positive on the woofer. Thats about it. Edited March 13, 2009 by ISO Quote Isobaric - Refers to the practice of coupling two drivers together to make them act as one.
