Matching An Amp To Subs

I recently acquired two Alpine Type-S 10" dual 4 ohm subs in a sealed box. I have been powering them with a tiny Sony 2-channel (I think it puts out 175w RMS at 4 ohms per channel) which is DEFINITELY not the right impedance or in my opinion enough power for the subs. What is an inexpensive amplifier that you would recommend for the subwoofer setup I mentioned? I think I am supposed to have either 1 ohm out of the amp or 2, maybe 8; I don't have a diagram for them (bought them used).

All help is greatly appreciated.

Too many projects, too little time...

Well, these are your choices:

1 or 4. As a current owner of a Sony amp (not for long though) I doubt it is 1 ohm stable. So you are going to have to find something little more high end (or one of the cheap brands, which is not recommended)

Here is what I found:

look into hifonics great amps cheap price

Well, there is only 1 Hifonics amp he can use.

That is the BXI 610. At $170 or so, not a bad price. Even a crappy brand 1 ohm stable amp is going to be close to that.

Too bad their website doesn't really specify prices, i'm just going off google
