So can a 200 amp alt charge 3 big batts

depends on the capacity of the batts. for example... 3 D1000 powermaster batts, sure. but 3 D3100 powermaster batts? hmmmm... i'm hoping to get my alt back to charge 3 D5100 powermaster batts. it's a 200 amp alt as well
