ThwopKing Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 Hey folks, just needing some info on hooking up my subs and amp in my jeep. I know this is a kinda of ghetto install but being out of work im trying to keep costs down. But here goes, i have two Elemental Design 15's and a nine.1 amp just sitting collecting dust and i want to install it into my jeep. I have a good quality line output convertor and all the amp install wiring needs. But i wanted to know if anyone could point me in the right direction as to splice off of for low level inputs on stock Infinity amp? I asked on a jeep forum and was given the link to a module called the OEM-1 which wires into the oem headunit and then to the line output conv. but it was 80 bucks. I know not much but hey if i can save a few bucks im going to try. If anyone can shed some light on it let me know. brewer_brewer Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 your line converter will either have 2 or 4 wires on one end for speaker signal and a ground and the other side should have rca outputs. they should be colored or labeled. if your installing in the back splice wires in line with both set of rear speakers. should have 4 wires all together. left side + and - and right side + and -. and you have to do is wire these into the line converter as labeled. if it has 2 speaker inputs wire the left and right side + together and the -'s together ( the ones that you spliced into the speaker's wire) if it has 4 speaker inputs then connect +'s on the converter to + speaker wires and -'s on converter to - speaker wires. cvxsmitty58 Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 I have an 01 Grand cherokee with what used to be an infinity gold stereo......Before i changed out headunits i ran an infinity basslink off high level inputs from the factory amp. All i had to do was splice into the wires coming out of the amp under the back seat......although the front doors are subs, they are crossed over in the doors i believe, so there is no way to pick up just a bass signal directly from the amp.....i was lucky enough to have a built in filter so this was not an issue for me........heres the pinout for the infinity amp http://www.wjjeeps.com/radio_ampdiag1a.jpg
cvxsmitty58 Posted March 28, 2009 Report Posted March 28, 2009 theres also a remote turn on wire so youll need to splice into that for your new amp
