Colin - STAPUFT Posted January 15, 2012 Author Report Posted January 15, 2012 What suspension miss have you don't to hold the weight? It is all factory on the suspension. It has dropped about 2.25" right at the rear tire well. Lucky for me, the van sat high in the back to begin with- so now it is pretty much level. I have been toying with the idea of getting helper bags- to help with the load some & maybe hoist it up an inch or so. I can tell you, it has changed the ride characteristics greatly. haha! It drives like it is pulling a slightly tongue heavy trailer all the time. ...all of that aside, the real problem isn't driving, it is stopping. If something pops out in front of me at any kind of speed- forget it. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. Also did a vid of the highs playing: I had a better clip to put into the video, but the file got corrupted somehow. Pissed me off. And I apologize in advance for the second song- I wasn't really planning on using that one. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. Colin - STAPUFT Posted February 4, 2012 Author Report Posted February 4, 2012 Well... since I can't leave anything alone for too long, I decided to move my 5.25" Tang-Band Woofers (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-831) to their own box. I moved the Tang-Bands so they would be in a proper box, and to make room in my doors (for my 4 6.5"s + 2 4"s for each door). I had this box from forever ago so I just worked it a bit. Regrettably, I didn't take nearly as many photos as I thought. Anyway, on with the show (such as it is) Box is built and braced already. Marked the speaker cutouts. Also you will see the cup holder. Astros SUCK for cup holders. Still had 4 of the blue LEDs left that moonweezle9 hooked me up with, so I wired them in. They are on a switch I have for my LEDs and Neon. Wired in Series. Quick Disconnects on the bottom of the box. Also, box stuffed with Poly-Fill. Cup holder in the Back. My boy giving me a hand. And... a good place for the Maglite. Got the box in and hooked up. They jump like crazy now, but it isn't like they make any bass worth talking about. Just something different I wanted to try. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain. Colin - STAPUFT Posted February 5, 2012 Author Report Posted February 5, 2012 jr basshead in the making I can only hope! With the 5.25" Tang-Bands out of the doors and in their own box, I needed something to go in their place so I wouldn't have a huge gaping hole in each of the current door pods. Before with the Tang-Bands: So, I was going to quick fab up some covers for the holes, but remembered I had these hidden away... Took these 2 photos with the phone, so- sorry for the quality. Don't have a photo of them in the door box, but you get the idea. Just swapped places. These Vifas sound good- I'd almost forgotten how good. I have been on a hunt to find more just like them, but haven't been able to. They are wired up to their own amp. Right now with my current wiring configuration, I still have a 2 channel 600 watt amp with nothing hooked up to it. I love having the room to swap stuff around and still have options. That and I don't have to re-do the system every time I change my mind- I just move some wires. At current this makes: 2 2" Centers 8 2" A-Pillars 4 Dash Tweets 4 Kick Tweets 4 4"s in the doors 2 5.25"s in the doors 2 5.25" woofers in console 4 Bass Shakers under the seats & 12 12" subs. 12 - 12"s in the STAY PUFT 1989 Chevy Astro Build & Comment Log Un-Interrupted Build LogYouTube Channel Chevy Trailblazer 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS Install You have a beard of a mysterious sea captain.
